Air Mode has to be enabled in Configurator in Modes tab via AUX channel.

You could just jump directly in the mode you want. For the ardupilot fan, it would be quite easy to add 6 buttons to directly switch between flight modes, avoiding having to going through unwanted flightmodes.

The module would be nice for extra long range, and the additional commands to control additional gears on my model (pan&tilt gimbal).
